Correlation of coping style and subjective well-being in college students

  • Objective To explore the correlation between college students coping style and subjective well-being.Methods 1 206 college students completed the Coping Style Questionnaire and Subjective Well-being Scale.Results There were significant differences in solving problems,help seeking,escaping,rationalization,life-satisfaction and negative effects among the college students from different type of universities(P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001).Female students used more coping skills of help seeking and illusion than that of male students(P<0.01).Female students.subjective well-being was significantly higher than that of male students(P<0.01).There were significant differences in self-blaming,illusion,scaping,rationa lization and negative effects among the college students from different grades(P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001).The well-being of college students showed a positive correlation with coping style in problem-solving and help see king,while there was a negative correlation between subjective well-being and self-blaming,escaping,illusion and rational-ization.Conclusion The individual coping style might predicate one's well-being.
