Investigation of veterinary drug residues in raw meat in Harbin

  • Objective To investigate the level of veterinary drug residues in rawmeat in Harbin to provide relevant informanon for the security of food management.Methods A survey was performed from May to October in 2007.Samples of pork,chicken and beef were collected from 8 markets and 5 supenn arkets,and the residues of terram ycin,aureomycin,tetracycline,stilboestrol and hydroxymethyl tert-butyl-adrenergics in the samples were detected by high-performance liquid chromatography.Results Three kinds of veterinary drugs(erramycin,tetracycline,stilboestrol) were detected in the rawmeat.The detection rate of terram ycin was 5.13%,and the detection rate of stilboestrol and tetracycline was 2.56% and exceeded the national standards However,aureomycin and hydroxymethyl tert-butyl-adrenergics were not detected.The detection rate and the over standard rate of beef were 15.38%.The detection rate and the over standard rate of resudues in chick-enwere 7.69%.The detection rate and the over standard rate of residues in pork were 7.69%.Conclusion Terramycin,tetracycline and stilboestrol residues existed in raw meat in Harbin.The governor ent should adopt corresponding measures to decrease the level of veterinary drug residues
