HIV and syphilis infection in male homosexuality in Tangshan city

Objective To investigate the HIV and syphilis infection in male homosexuality in Tangshan city and to provide scientific basis for making intervention measures.Methods Cross-sectional study was conducted.Serum syphilis and HIV detection were given to volunteers selected from a anonymous questionnaire survey in male homosexuality population of Tangshan.Results Among 120 participants,114 valid questionnaires and 77 blood samples were obtained.The infection rate of syphilis and HIV was 29.87% and 7.79%,respectively.Only 17.92% of subjects used condoms when they had homosexual action in the last half a year.Conclusion There is a risk of HIV and syplilis transmission from rnale homosexuality to general popuplation in Tangshan city and countermeasures should be taken.
