HPV infection status and viral load in HIV positive people in Shenzhen city

  • Objective To research human papilloma virus (HPV) infection status in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive people and in HIV negative people in Shenzhen city. Methods To detect HPV infection status and HPV virus load with fluorescence quantitative PCR.Results In 40 HIV positive persons, there were 20 HPV infections, and the infection rate was 50.0%.In HIV negative persons, there were 7 HPV infections, and the infection rate was 17.5%.There was a significant difference (P<0.05).The HPV load of HIV positive persons was significantly higher than that of HIV negative persons (P<0.05).There were 16 types of HPV variants including 11 with high-risk,5 with low risk. The infection rate was the highest for type-16 (5 people),and type-52 (4 people),third for type-58 (3 people), respectively. Conclusion HPV infection rate among HIV positive people was significantly higher with heavy viral load and multi-type infection condition was serious.
