Protecive effects of Pu-erh tea on nonalcoholic fatty liver in rats

  • Objective To evaluate protective effects of Pu-erhteas on high-fat diets induced nonalcoholic fatty liver in SD rats. Methods Eighty SD rats were divided in to groups of normal control, model of high-fat diet,Pu-erh rawtea or Pu-erh mature teatreated groups(0.5,1.5,and 3.0 g/kg·bw,repectively).All rats were sacrificed after 30 daysπtest feeding.Biochemical parameters including superoxide dismutase(SOD),gluta thion perox idase(GSH 2PX),malondia ldehyde(MAD)and total choleste rol(TC)in blood serum were determined, and pathological changes of the liver were observed. Results With diffe rent dose of Pu-erh tea, hepatic steatosis were improved in dose-response and dose-dependent manner. The activity of SOD,GSH-PX in blood increased significantly, and the level of MDA and TC decreased significantly(P<0.5).Conclusion Pu-erh tea could supp ress oxida tive stress-lipid peroxidation in liver cells, and improve the pathological damages of liver effectively. The fatty liver was improved by reducing the lipid deposition and oxidative damage, which may be the mechanism of the effects of Puerhtea.
