Comparison of aldosterone/plasma rennin activity ratio among hyperten sion patients in different posture

Objective To determine and compare the activities of aldosterome and plasm a rennin among hypertention patientsinlying and standing position.Methods The blood samples were collected from hype rtention patientsinlying and standing position,respectively.The radio immunoassay was used to detect plasm a renn in activity(PRA)and plasm a aldosterone(ALD).And thep lasma aldosterone/renn in activity ratio(ARR)was calculated.Results The values of ARR were 153.14±33.25 for 120 patients in lying position and 78.80±27.42 for 120 patients in standing position with significant differece in pared-samples T-test(t=7.218,P<0.05).Conclusion There is a difference in ARR values between hypertention patients in lying and standing position and the difference should be conside red when A RR value is used in diagnosis.
