Prevalence and influence factors of hyperten sion in residents of Weifang city

Objective To study the preva lence and risk factors of hypertension among residents in Weifang city for prevention and treatment of the disease in communities.Methods With stratified sampling,11 425 persons aged 15 and above from 3 546 families were investigated with a questionnaire survey.Results The preva lence of hypertension in the partici-pants aged 15-29 years was 8.40% and 12.45% in the participants elder than 30 years.There were statistical significant differences in hype rtension preva lence between subjects with different age,occupation,body mass index and different smokings tatus.Conclusion The preva lence of hype rtension in residents of Weifang is lower than that of in countryside.Health education on over-weight,living stress and smoking could reduce the risk of hypertension.
