Community-based intervention of hyperten sion and its effect

  • Objective To study the community-based intervention of hypertension and its effects.Methods The hypertension patients who voluntarily participated the management in the community were divided into groups with different levels of risk factors according to the results of questionnaire investigation, physical examination and laboratory test.The participants were under two years management according to《China hypertension prevention and treahnent guideline, 2005》.Results(1)The average systolic blood pressure (SBP) of the patients was significantly decreased(Z=-7.624,P<0.001) and the diastolic blood pressure(DBP) was also significantly decreased (Z=-6.717, P<0.001).(2) The rate of taking medicine regularly was significantly higher than that of before the management(χ2=7.538, P=0.006).(3) The rate of smoking everyday was significantly lower than that of before the intervention (χ2=-7.021, P=0.008) and alcohol drinking was also significantly decreased (χ2=-7.280, P=0.007).The rate of physical activity was significantly increased (χ2=8.959, P=0.003).(4) Through the intervention, the awareness rate of risk factors of hypertension was significantly higher than that of before (5) There was no significant inprovement in SBP, DBP level and hypertention related know ledge rate among high risk group.Conclusion It is more effective to decrease incidence and mortality of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases by community-based management.
