Prevalence rate of hyperten sion and risk factors among university teaching staff

  • Objective To understand the prevalence rate of hypertension among university teaching staff.Methods The data of physical examination of teaching staff in a university in 2008 was analyzed.Results The prevalencemte of hypertension among the subjects was 21.93% and 47.76% of the subjects had higher blood pressure than nounal.The prevalence rate of hypertension increased with the age.The prevalence rate of hypertension amongmenat age of 65 years or above was higher than that of women.The prevalencemte of hypertension increased dramatically among those with ovenv eight or abodom final obesity of abnounalwaist-to-hipmtia.Conclusion A half of university teaching staff with higher blood pressure than nounal is the key group for blood pressure intervention.The age, sex, weight and wasitline are factors influcing blood pressure among the teaching staff.
