Social support and perceived social support of patients with coronary heart disease

Objective To probe the social support and perceived social support in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD).Methods Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS)and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)were evaluated in 503 patients with CHD selected from tengeneral hospitals in three cities of Ningxia.Results The scores of social support,subjective support and utilization of the support were significantly lower than those of Chinesenorm for patients with CHD(P<0.01 for all).The received social support in most of the patients(69.7%)was at moderate leve.l76.0% ofthe patients were with normal perceived social support.Perceived social support had positive correlation with received social support.Conclusion The levels of social support and perceived social support of patients with CHD are lower and should be cnosidered seriously.
