Job burnout status and social support in nurses

ObjectiveTo investigate the status of job burnout and its relationship with social support among nurses.MethodsOverall 310 nurses were surveyed with Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey,Social Support Rating Scale and self-made social support questionnaire.ResultsThe total detection rate of burnout among the nurses was 41.9%.Length of service,educational background,marital state,and working department were influencing factors for job burnout level.The total score of the burnout was negatively correlated with all dimensions of the social support(r=-0.169-0.537,P<0.01).Working unit support,objective support,the availability of support,friend support and cmmunity support were significant negative predictors to one or more dimensions of job burnout(Beta=-0.098--0.461,P<0.05).ConclusionAttension should be paid to job burnout problem and social support in nurses.
