Correlation between anxiety,general self-efficacy and coping style in vocational college students

  • Objective To examine status of anxiety,general self-efficacy,coping style,and their relationships among vocational college students.Methods Totally 763 vocational college students were a sked to fill in the questionnaires of state anxiety,general self-efficacy and coping style.Results The prevalance rate of anxiety was 13.4% among the students.The mean scores of anxiety of male and female students were higher than that of normal Chinese(t=3.95,7.24,P<0.01).There was a significant difference in the prevalence of anxiety bewteen the non-only child and only child(F=4.13,P<0.05).There was no significant difference in general self-efficacy bewteen the vocational college students and the university students(t=-1.52,-0.72,P>0.05).The vocational college students had a higher socre of positive coping style than the score of negative coping.Anxiety had significantly negative correlation with general self-efficacy and positive coping style(r=-0.337,-0.326,P<0.01),and positive correlation with negative coping style(r=0.186,P<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between general self-efficacy and positive coping style(r=0.355,P<0.01).Conclusion Anxiety is closely related to general sel-fefficacy and coping style.Self-confidence,positive a ttitude and coping ability could play miportant roles in reducing anxiety among vocational college students.
