Effect of parental rearing pattern on formation of criminal personality

  • Objective To explore the relationship between the parental rearing pattern and the personality character of crmiinal.Methods Eysenck Personality Questio nnaire and parental rearing pattern scale were used to assess the parental rearing pattern and personality of 167 crmiinals.Results The scores on the neuroticism and psychoticism factors were higher and the lie factor were lower than Chinese norm.The father's rearing patterns were more reflected as "punishment",while the mother's rearing patterns were more reflected as "warmth and understanding","over-intervention","rejection and denial" and "over-protection".There were correlations bewteen psychoticism score and warmth and under standing of parents,parental punishment and "over-intervention" of father,extrave rsion score and "ove-rprotection" of father,lie score and "warmth and understanding" of father,"over-intervention and protection of parents" and "preference of parents".Conclusion The parental rearing pattern have anmiportan tmipact on the personality of crmiinals.
