Cost-effectiveness of training in appropriate medical technology in rural area

  • Objective To discuss the cost-effectiveness of training in medical appropriate technology in rural area for conducting better training program.Methods The data of training cost(C)were acquired from training financial reports and correaltive record.The training effectiveness(E)was evaluated according to the achievement of medical skills before and after the training.The cost effectiveness ratio(C/E)and the increment of cost-effectiveness ratio(C/E)were caluclated.Results The total cost percapita for training in Chine semedicine technology(1 465.61 Yuan RMB)was higher than that of western medicine technology(872.79 Yuan RMB)and family planning technology(261.26 Yuan RMB).Based on family planning technology,the costs of western medicine and Chinese medicine technolgy for an increment of one score were 37.96 Yuan RMB and 54.67 Yuan RMB,respectively.The total cost percapita for training at the provincial level (1 432.49 Yuan RMB)was higher than that of at county level.Compared to county level training,over investment cost for anincrement of one score at provincial level was 66.96 Yuan RMB.Conclusion The training in Chinese medicine technology could be conducted by local experts to lower training cost.The provincial level training should adopt stratified training method to save training cost.
