Joint effects of nutrients on lead poisoning in children

  • Objective To explore the jointe ffects of nutrients against the toxicity of lead. Methods With self-com parison and group-comparison design, six nutrients were tested in a clinical intervention trial. The nutrients were vitam in C, vitam in B1,calcium,iron,zinc,selenium,which have effects of against lead toxicity. Results On the avrage, the nutrients could reduce blood lead from 160.4±29.2 μg/L to 125.8±20.1 μg/L and increase urine lead from 30.4±815 μg/L to 39.6±11.6 μg/L in the experimental group. After the experiment, the experimental group showed significant differences compared with itself and the control group in the descent of blood lead and the elmiination of urine lead(P < 0.01).The elmiination ratio of urine lead was higher than that of urine calcium and urine zinc in the expermiental group on the same tmie point(P < 0.05).The nutrients relieved clinical symptoms of the patients(P < 0.05).Conclusion The joint effects of nutrients against lead poisoning could be achieved by jointadm in istration in children.
