Mental health among security forces in Beijing city

  • Objective To analyzemental health status of central security forces in Beijing city.Methods A group sample of soldiers from the central security forces was surveyed with Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90).Results Among the 595 participants,there were 72 with mental problems with a positive rate of 12.10% and 8 with moderate mental disorders (1.34%).The positive rates for compulsory disorder,other factors,anxiety,horror,hostility,and interperonal sensitivity were 0.84 %,0.50%,0.34%,0.34%,0.34%,and 0.17%,respectively.The average values of the factor score of SCL-90 were lower in central security forces than in Chinese norm population and in Chinese army men(P < 0.01).Conclusion The basic mental health level of central security forces is better than Chinese norm population and Chinese army normmen.
