Rubella antibody level among immigrant workers in Shenzhen

Objective To understand the antibody level against rubella among workers in Shenzhen city from other areas for rubella control.Methods Totally 1003 workers were surveyed with a questionnaire and their blood samples were colleted.The enzyme-linked immuno sorbenta ssay(ELISA)was used to detect rubella IgG in the blood samples.Results The positive rate of rubella IgG was 75.37% among the werkers.The positive rate was significant lower among female workers aged 20-40 years than other female workers(76.1% vs 87.3%,χ²=4.470,P=0.034).There was a significant difference in the positive rate between workers from different provinces(χ²=16.707,P=0.006).Conclusion The positive rate of rubella IgG was high among mimig rantworkers,especially among childbearing female workers in Shenzhen.It is nec essary to streng then rubella surveillance and vaccination among married female workers of reproductive age from other provinces.
