Evaluation on intervention effect of different TB health educational methods among junior high school students

  • Objective To explore effects of differenet tuberculosis(TB) health educational methods and to provide scientific basis for newpattern of TB health education among junior high school students of northern rural of Jiangsu province(Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Yancheng, Huaian, Suqian).Methods Totally 360 students were randomly selected and investigated with a questionnaire before and after a health education program.The results we reanalyzed statistically.Results The awareness rate of TB knowledge of the students was lowand the total awaeness rate was only 35.4%.After the health education, the awareness rate of TB knowledge among comprehensive intervention group and routine in tervention group were 95.2% and 84.1%(P < 0.05) and the effect of comprehe sive intervention was better than that of routine intervention(P < 0.05).The attitude and behavior about TB among the junior studentswere significantly improved after the interv en tion(P < 0.05) and the highest increase was observed in comprehensive intervention group(> 60%).Conclusion The comprehen sive TB intervention with different forms of health education such as consulting service, professional lecture, web site education are easily accepted and effective among the junior high school students in the Northernrural of Jiangsu province.
