Disability-adjusted life expectancy and burden of disease in residents of Zhejiang province

Objective To estmiate the burden of diseases in residents of Zhejiang province with Sullivan method.Methods According to data of morbidity surveillance and epidemiological investigation in Zhejiang province in 2006,the disability-adjusted life expectancy(DALE) and disabled life expectancy (DLE) attributed to diseases were calculated following the procedures developed by Sullivan to estimate the burden of diseases.Results Totally 27.391 residents were selected with stratified cluster random sampling.Life expectancy of the residents was 75,20 years.DLE attributed to diseases at birth was 5.90 years.DALE of the residents was 69.30 years.The first three burden of diseases were non-communicable chronic diseases,musculoske letal pain and unintentional injuries,and neuropathy and psychopathy.The disability adjusted life expectancy was higher in female and city residents than that of in male and rural residents.But the burden of disease of female and urban residents was higher than that of male and rural residents.Conclusion The major burden of diseaie among residents of Zhejiang province is a ttributed to non-communicable chronic disease,muscu loskeletal pain and unintentional injury,and neuropathy and psychopathy.
