Relationships between injury and visual acuity, attention, and psychologic status in undergraduate students

  • Objective To study the relationships between injury and visual acuity, attention, and psychologic status in undergraduate students and to provide basis for effective intervention. Methods A total of 1 219 undergraduate students in a medical university were recruited and 126 injured cases were identified with stratified cluster random sampling.χ2-test,t-test,single factor and multivariate conditional logistic regression were adopted in data analyses with SPSS 16.0.Results Detected rate of hypopsia of the case group(91.27%) was higher than that of the control group(81.75%).Time on target of the case group(32.27±11.43 s) was lower than that of the control group(41.21±12.56 s) in the attention concentration test. The score of depression, anxiety, intercourse, hostility, and psychosis of the case group were higher than those of the control group.Multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis showed that hypopsia, inattention, depression, and anxiety were the risk factors for injury incident in the students. Conclusion The injury incidence in undergraduate students is related to individual characteristics. The undergraduate students with hypopsia, inattention, depression, and anxiety are more likely to be injured.
