Effects of employment pressure on suicide attitude and ideation among college students

  • Objective To explore the effects of employment pressure on suicide attitude and ideation among college students.Methods Suicide Attitude Questionnaire(QSA) was administered to 703 college students.Results Among the students,72.1% had employment pressure.Grade,major field,household registration,father's occupation,and family income had effect on employment pressure(P < 0.05).Employment pressure had effect on suicide attitude(β=-0.10,P < 0.05).Opinion to suicide behavior(β=-0.904,P < 0.01) and attitude to euthanasia(β=-0.412,P < 0.05) were protective factors to suicide ideation; employment pressure was a promoting factor to suicide ideation(β=0.265,P < 0.01).Conclusion Employment pressure has effect on suicide attitude,but it is not the main factor,while,employment pressure and suicide attitude are significant predictors of suicide ideation among college students.
