Evaluation on quality of life among HIV/AIDS patients in Henan province

Objective To investigate the quality of life(QOL) among HIV/AIDS patients in Henan province and to assess the influence of the diseases on QOL in order to facilitate the development of social care service and intervention.Methods A total of 112 HIV/AIDS patients from Henan province were selected.The World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire for Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection Brief Version(WHOQOL-HIV-BREF) was used to assess their quality of life.Results The mean and standard deviation of total quality of life was 72.00±10.10.The influencing factors of QOL were depression(t=-6.31,P=0.00),the number of clinical symptoms(t=-2.32,P=0.02),and support from family(t=3.66,P=0.00).Conclusion The QOL of HIV/AIDS patients was poorer than the general population.In order to improve the QOL of the HIV/AIDS patients,we should put the social support together with medical treatment.
