KAP about tuberculosis among migrant workers in Jiangsu province

Objective To investigate the knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP) about tuberculosis(TB) among migrant workers in Jiangsu province and to provide basis for health education.Methods A total of 653 migrant workers from 18 construction and manufacturing enterprises in Taixing,Danyang,Zhangjiagang cities of Jiangsu province were selected with cluster sampling.Results Total awareness rate for 6 knowledge items of TB in the migrant workers was 55.6%,with a qualified rate of 58.5%.Multivariate analyses showed that the married migrant workers had a higher passing rate(odds ratioOR=1.631,95% confidence interval CI=1.158,2.297) and the workers receiving health education in the previous six months had higher passing rate(OR=5.609,95%CI:3.938,7.990).There were interactive relationships among the knowledge,attitude and practice about TB in the migrant workers.Conclusion Migrant workers have a poor knowledge about TB.and health education on TB should be further strengthened in the workers.
