Influencing factors of response capability in emergency exercises among emergency responders of CDC

  • Objective To investigate the influencing factors of response capability in emergency excercise among emergency responders of centers for disease control and prevention(CDCs) in Heilongjiang province and to provide reference for capability improvement in emergency exercise. Methods Stratified sampling method was used to investigate 1 033 emergency responders from CDCs at different levels in Heilongjiang province.Relevent information were collected with a questionnaire.Logistic regression analysis was employed. Results The overall capability of emergency exercise was low and only 22.6% of the staff considering their ability being strong or good.Logistic analyses showed that professional title(odds ratio=1.314),duration of service(OR=1.299),experience of on-site management(OR=1.792),training efficiency(OR=1.539),and proficiency in making emergency management plan(OR=1.601)were main factors affecting response capability in emergency exercise. Conclusion Hindered by many factors, the emergency exercise capacity of emergency responders of CDCs is generally low.Increasing on-site management experience, compiling emergency preparation plan, and conducting training program are helpful to improve the capability in emergency exercise among the staff of CDCs.
