Human resources for public health informatization in CDCs at provincial and municipal levels

  • ObjectiveTo analyze the status of human resources for public health informatization in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDCs)in China.MethodsAn online questionnaire survey about public health informaticians in CDCs at provincial or municipal levels was conducted using epidemiological dynamic data collection platform(EDDC).ResultsOf 1 281 professionals responsible for public health information service in CDCs,only 2.7%(34/1 281) were with both medical and information technology education background.The average percentage of the professionals receiving training was 74.7%(957/1281).The professionals in the CDCs of east areas of China were more satisfied to the training frequency than the those in the middle and west regions(t=2.89,P=0.0119).Major factors stimulating enthusiasm of professional work included salary increase and promotion of position,with selection ratio of 77.8%(996/1 281)and 52.4%(671/1 281)among the professionals.About one thirds of the professionals reported the intent of demission under the condition of getting a better career.ConclusionThe human resource for public heath information in CDCs in China is at good status but needs to be improved for the development of public health service.
