Cognition on influencing factors of health among community residents in Shenzhen city

  • ObjectiveTo evaluate the cognition status of influencing factors of health among Shenzhen community residents and to provide a basis for making relevant policies and measures.MethodsMultistage sampling was used in this study.A total of 6 413 residents selected from 32 communities were investigated with a self-administered questionnaire survey.ResultsThe proportions of the residents considering major influencing factors of health were 46.4% for social and environmental factor,30.91% for life and behavior style,20.99% for medical and health care services, and 1.62% for genetic factor, respectively. The results of logistic regression analyses showed that the main positive factors affecting the cognition on influencing factors of health were the time of physical examination in a year(odds ratio OR=1.25),the time of physical exercise in a week(OR=1.25),type of household register(OR=1.23),education level(OR=1.23),individual income(OR=1.12),smoking status(OR=1.16),and self-rated health(OR=1.18).While,the negative factors were with illness in previous two weeks(OR=0.83)and being single(OR=0.78).ConclusionThe proportion of considering life and behavior style as main influencing factors of health is relatively low among community residents of Shenzhen city and health education and promotion need to be enhanced to improve the cognition on effects of life and behavior style on health in the residents.
