Risk factors for hyperhomocysteinemia:a review

  • Numerous studies have shown that elevated concentration of homocysteine is associated with the incidence of many diseases such as coronary heart disease and stroke.Genetic,nutritional,hormonal factors,and history of cigarettes smoking and alcohol drinking are considered as risk factors for hyperhomocysteinemia.In recent years,domestic and foreign scholars have done a number of researches on hyperhomocystinemia,while some risk factors and how to prevent the occurrence of hyperhomocystinemia are not very clear and still need to be further studied.
