Life quality and its determinants among taxi drivers in Ji'nan city

Abstract
Objective To examine life quality and its influencing factors among taxi drivers in Ji'nan city.Methods With cluster random sampling, we surveyed 719 taxi drivers by using the MOS 36-Item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36).Results All the domain scores of SF-36 for the taxi drivers were significantly lower than those of the norm(all P<0.05).The scores of life quality were different among the drivers with different working shift, age, education level, income, length of service, working hours, sleep time, driving-related disorder, and physical exercise.Multiple regression analysis showed that the drivers with night-shift, longer working hours, longer length of service, with driving-related disorders, and lack of physical exercise had a lower life quality score.Conclusion The life quality among drivers was low and we should pay more attention to improve the life quality of taxi drivers.
