Application of mhealth intervention in populations in relation to HIV infection control: a review

  • Due to rapid development of mobile communication technology, mobile health (mhealth) has become the focus of public health researches in recent years. As an emerging intervention method, mhealth has shown huge potential application in acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) prevention and medication, nursing, and support of AIDS patients.Because of the unbalanced distribution of global health resources, traditional medication treatment for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can hardly meet the needs of all the countries.Under this circumstance, mhealth interventions have become a reasonable choice globally to strengthen the prevention and control of HIV epidemics, especially in the low- and middle-income countries and remote regions. The article reviewed related research papers and results published in English and Chinese about mhealth interventions among populations in relation to HIV epidemic control for the application of mhealth in future in China.
