Relationship between vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms and osteocalcin

  •   Objective   To investigate the prevalence of polymorphism of the vitamin D receptor(VDR)gene in Chinese people, and to study the relationship between osteocalcin polymorphism of VDR gene.
Methods   VDR (BsmI) gene polymorphisms of 186 healthy Pre-menopausal women was detected by using polymerase chain reation-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RELPs).The serum levels of osteocalcin were measured by radioim munoassay.
Results   The frequency distribution of VDR gene type was BB 0%, Bb 12.4%, bb 87.6%, The b allelic frequencies reached as high as 93.8%.ANOVA Analysis indicated that there was no significant difference in BGP between the two groups of genotypes.
Conclusion   There was no significant association of polymorphism in VDR gene with BGrP in Chinese pre-menopausal Han women in Changchun in this study.
