Objective To provide basis for the establishment of new policy and adoption of new measure in funher control of tuberculosis among internal migrants in cities. The problems and relevant reasons were also analysed deeply in this study.
Methods Quantitative data were collected from the routinely registered data on TB patients of both internal migrants and permanent residents during the period of 1997 to 2002.
Results The new registration rate of intemal migrants was far higher than permanent residents, and the actual situation might be more serious. The methods of detection were similar. But the tuberculosis case management and cure management of internal migrants were bad, and so were the results of treatment.Urgent improvements were needed in the cure management of internal migrants.
Conclusion To further control tuberculosis in cities, besides adopting measures to improve tuberculosis detection rate, developing the tuberculosis case management and normal cure of internal migrants were more important.
