Infection status and antimicrobial resistance of mycoplasma in STD patients in different areas

  •   Objective   To realize infection status and antibiotic resistance of Ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu)and Mycoplasma hominis(Mh)from patients in different cities of Jiangsu province, in order to apply correct treatment in STD.
Methods   Samples were collected in STD clinics of four hospitals in Nanjing, Xuzhou and Wuxi.Mycoplasma IST kit was used to cultivate, identify mycoplasma and to detect antibiotic susceptibility of these strains, and to analyse TetM gene by PCR.
Results   Among the patients in Nanjing, Wuxi and Xuzhou, the positive rates of Uu and/or Mh were 33.3%, 27.9% and 25.0%, respectively. The significant difference was found between female(41.3%)and male(21.2%).The positive rates had significant differences among different age groups.20 yeas group and 30 years group were higher. Most of Uu and/or Mh were sensitive to pristinamycine, josamycine and doxycycline. But most of them were resistant to ciprofloxacin and oflox acin.TetM gene seemsed to be more frequent in resistant and inter mediated resistant mycoplasma strains than that of sensitive ones.
Conclusion   Antimicrobial resistance of my coplasma was more serious in Jiangsu province. The surveillance study on mycoplasma resistance was very important.
