Study on mortality of malignant neoplasm and cardio-cerebro-vascular diseases in Guangzhou

  •   Objective   To investigate the mortality of malignant neoplasm and cardio-cerebro-vascular diseases(CVD) among Guangzhou citizen in 1990, 1996 and 2000 respectively.
      Methods   To survey the mortality of malignant neoplasm and CVD of Guangzhou citizen and to analyze the relative risk of death from malignant neoplasm and CVD.
      Results   (1) The main causes of dealth of Guangzhou citizen were lung cancer, liver cancer, cerebro-vascular diseases and heart diseases.For most kinds of malignant neoplasm, their mortality in male were higher than that in female.The mortality of CVD was almost the same between male and female.(2)During the ten years, mortality of lung, liver, intestine, nasopharynx, breast(female) cancer and cerebro-vascular diseases, heart diseases and hypertension was increasing.The increased death risks of malignant neoplasm in 2000 in those aged 30 to 44 were mainly from lung, liver and nasopharynx cancer in male.In female, they were mainly from breast and lung cancer.There were respectively 63% and 141% increased death risks of cerebro-vascular diseases and cardio-vascular diseases in 2000 in those aged 30 to 44, and 172% of hypertension in 2000 in those aged 30 to 59.
      Conclusion   The prevention and treatment of malignant neoplasm was instant and important, and should be put into force from early age.At present, the prevention and treatment of lung, liver, intestine and breast cancer and cardio-vascular diseases and hypertension in Guangzhou citizen should be emphasized.
