Objective To understand the epidemic characteristic of SIDs in Shenzhen in 2003 and provide scientific evidence for their control and prevention.
Methods STDreports and demographic data in Shenzhen in 2003 were collected and analyzed.
Results Reported cases of STDs were 13 778 in 2003, which rose by 9.95% against 2002, and the total incidence rate reported was 306118/100, 000.The STDs with highest incidence rate was nongonococcal urethritis.The second was condyloma acuminatum, exceeded the incidence rate of gonorrhea which became the third.Gonorrhea was among the most frequently reported STDs, but its constitutive ratio was decreasingy early.
Conclusions Incidence of HIV/AIDS, nong onococcal urethritis tended to ascend distinctively, while congenital syphilis in a grave trend; and much work should be done to examine STDs among pregnant women.
