Strategy on syphilis prevention of mother-to-child transmission in Shenzhen

  •   Objective   To explore the strategy on syphilis prevention of mother-to-child transmission and reduction of antenatal syphilis.
      Methods   It was in the form of special funds for syphilis prevention that started-up project of syphilis prevention of mother-to-child transmission in Shenzhen.It should carry out routine screening for syphilis in pregnancy and do much interference among them and detect pregnant women infected syphilis timely and prevent syphilis mother-to-child transmission.By effect evaluation and cost-benefit analysis the project would be proved greatly.
      Results   186 517 cases were free blood-tested for syphilis and 777 were positve.The prevalence rate were 416.58×10-5.555 pregnant women with syphilis were followed-up after treatment.330 cases were chosen to continue to be pregant and 181 chosed termination of pregnancy and 44 were missed.126 infants were tested for syphilis and 109 cases were positive with RPRscreening and 24 were finally diag nosed.It blocked 87.30% mother-to-child sy philis since the project were done.24 cases were reported antenatal syphilis in 2003 in Shenzhen and decreased 39(61.90%)compared with that in 2002.
      Conclusion   It will come into being that the project adapted to the situation of Shenzhen and provides effective strategy and experience on syphilis prevention in Guangdong province and all over the country.
