Survey on health services need and utilization in military members

  •   Objective   To study elementary sanitation and character of health services need and utilization in milit ary members.
      Methods   Multistage stratified cluster sampling was applied.A total of 2350 military members in the middle region of China were sampled, face to face inquiry was made by the well trained survey staff.
      Results   The chronic illness prevalence of the officers(139.3‰)was significantly higher than that of the soldiers(85.2‰)(P < 0.01).The utilization of clinic visits service was mainly among the military members in regiment medical team and battalion medical corpsman, and each accounted for 49.10%, 17.24%, respectively.The utilization of inpatients services was mainly those of the central hospitals and accounted for 64.21% of total inpatients.
      Conclusion   Health services need and utilization of military members was more than that of national citizens, suggesting health education was needed to be enforced and health inv estment needed to be enforced in primary medical facility of military.
