Objective To clarify effect of nitric oxide on infectivity of merozoite.
Methods P.yoelii schizonts collected and treated with NO donors(NOC5 and NOC18)in vitro, were injected into abdominal cavity of mice.Infective rate was assessed by the microscopic examination of Giemsa-stained smears of tail blood.
Results As concentration of NO donor was hoisted and treated time was prolonged, the infective rate of mice decreased obviously and infection occurred late.
Conclusion Exogenous nitric oxide was able to weaken infectivity of P.yoelii merozoite in a time and dose dependent manner.
