Study on STI/AIDS intervention among female sex workers

  •   Objective   To improve the rate of AIDS knowledge among female commercial sex workers(FCSW), promote the use of condom, and decrease the rate of STD/AIDS infection and to explore the intervention model adapting to local instance.
      Methods   In 2002 in Chengdu rural area by the community intervention nets, FCSW were surveyed and organized to attend varied intervention activites, such as: the discussion, the answer with award, the lecture, the instruct of condom, peer education.The data were collected and analyzed.
      Results   After the intervention, the rate of AIDS knowledge among FCSW was improved up to 84.15% from 60.69%, and the rate of recent using condom was improved up to 88.29% from 56.31%.
      Conclusion   The intervention among FCSW can prevent HIV from spreading.This intervention model adapted to local instance and was worthy of being popularized.
