Detection of toxicity genes of shiga toxigenic escherichia coli

  Objective   To analyze 351 strains isolated during 2000-2002 and related with STEC infection in order to understand their carrying mode with toxic genes.

  Methods   The toxic genes(stx₁ and stx₂), and genes of hlyA, eaeA, rfb_O111 and rfb_O157 of all the strains were determined with multi-PCR technology.Result 351 strains concluded 4 types of pathogens: C.freumdii, O157:H7, E.coli with rfbuisr positive but without Shigella toxic gene and ETC with rfbuisr negative but with Shiogella toxic gene.The 4 types of pathogens possessed 6 kinds of gene modes of rfbuisr, stx₂ and stx₁.The srains with Shigella toxic gene were mainly collected from Boer Goats, local goats and cases with diarrhea.It was also found that some livestock and poultry were infected with STEC.

  Conclusion   The infectios with STEC were found in Henan Province mainly O157:H7 and non-O157:H7 infection was also found.
