Molecular epidemiology analysis on HIV-1 subtype B strains found in Shandong province

  Objective   To investigate the prevalent status of HIV-1 subtype B epidemic in Shandong province.

  Methods   17 DNA fragments of HIV-1 envgene were amplified by nested PCR from persons infected with HIV-1.Their C2-V3 and adjacent region were sequenced.

  Results   These 17 cases were confirmed to be infected with HIV-1 subetype B strain (sd-B), the genetic distance between sd-B and Thailand subetype B strains was nearest, 9.16±3.34, the innergr oups distance of sd-B was 11.69±4.19.The motif of top 4-peptides of V3 loop showed 6 forms.

  Conclusion   Subtype B strain generated obvious variation, and it distributed extensively in population and district in Shandong province.
