Molecular epidemiologic analysis on HIV-1 subtype Cstrains in Shandong province

    Abstract
  •   Objective   To investigate the prevalent status of HIV-1 subtype C epidemic among different populations in Shandong province.
      Methods   DNA fragments of HIV-1 env gene were amplified by nested PCR from persons infected with HIV-1.C2-V3 and adjacent region were sequenced.
      Results   These 7 cases were confirmed to be infected with HIV-1 subetype C strain, 5 strains are nearer to 07-BC, and 2 strains are nearer to 08-BC in phylogenetic tree.
      Conclusion   There may be CRFs of HIV-1 C strain in Shandong, C subtype distributed in 4 kinds of populations and had 3 various routes to transmit.
