Study on association between insulin resistance and hypertension in Mongolian nationality

  Objective   To explore the association between insulin resistance and hypertension in Mongolian nationality.

  Methods   On the basis of prevalence survey, 115 hypertensives and 117 normotensives were recruited as study subjects.Blood glucose was measured by the glucose instrument.Radioimmunoassay(RIA)were utilized to measure insulin and C peptide(C-p), respectively.Insulin resistance was determined by means of insulin sensitivity index(ISI).

  Results   No significant differences were found in insulin sensitivity index(ISI)between the two groups(P > 0.05).After being stratified by age, sex, BMI and WHR, there was significant difference in insulin sensitivity index(ISI)between the two groups(P < 0.05).

  Conclusion   The insulin resistance might be related to hypertension in non-obese Mongolian nationality.
