Damage effects of sulfur dioxide on pulmonary membranous permeability of rats

  •   Objective   To study the effects and mechanisms of SO2 on lungs and the cell membrane permeability of pulmonary cells.
Methods   The brochoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)and the pulmonary cells were gathered to study the effects and mechanisms of SO2 on lungs and the membrane permeability of pulmonary cells on the body, cellular and subcellular levels.
Results   The increase of body weight and the lung dry weight decreased, otherwise the lung wet weight increased; The protein contents in the BALF, the pumonary vascular permeability index and alveolar permeability increased as well as the lactic dehydrogenase(LDH)and the acid phophatase(ACPase)activity in BALF increased. The LDH and ACPase activity in AM decreased.
Conclusion   The pulmonary tissues were damaged, the pulmonary vascular permeability and the membranous permeability of the cells increased, and the structure and function of the organelles(e.g lysosome)were changed.
