Experimental study on combinative antagonizing effects of multi-nutrients on toxicity of porphyrin system induced by lead poisoning

  •   Objective   To explore the combinative anti-effects of multi-nutrients on tox icity of porphyrin system induced by lead exposure.
Methods   Applying orthogonal design, animal experiment was performed to test the effects of Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, calcium, zinc, selenium, N-acetyl-cysteine(NAC), methionine and taurine, which were well-known to anti-effects on the toxicity of lead.Indicators of porphyrin system were chosen to evaluate the anti-effects.
Results   Levels of blood hemoglobin(Hb)and activities of D-amlinolevulinic acid dehydratase(ALAD)were decreased induced by lead exposure. After intervention of multi-nutrients, the influences of lead on the porphyrin system were obviously ameliorated.Levels of Hb in the animals treated with lead and nutrients were restored to normal levels. For this anti-effect, NAC, Methionine and Taurine were most powerful. But the influence induced by lead exposure on the activities of ALAD was not changed after nutrimental intervention.
Conclusion   The toxic effects on porphyrin system induced by lead poisoninig can be obviously ameliorated by intervention of multi-nutrients.But the role of single nutrient was weak.Powerful function could be obtained only when being given multi-nutrients.The function was limited when being exposed to high level of lead, which played an auxiliary treatment to some extent.
