Survey on mental health status of soldiers in a troop during field exercise

  •   Objective   To investigate mental health status of soldiers in a troop during field exercise.
      Methods   Soldiers were examined with SCL-90(symptom checklist 90)during field exercise.
      Results   In the group of soldiers, the total score was 148.03±46.92, the positive items 2.61±0.56, and the mean factorial score 1.37-1.80.The nine factorial scores of soldiers and the positive items were separately higher than the norm of Chinese population(P < 0.01).The factorial scores of somatization, anxiety and hostility were higher than the norm of Chinese serviceman(P < 0.01).The nine factorial scores of extremely intensity physical-work were all higher than that of intensity physical-work(P < 0.05).Only the paranoid ideation score of general soldiers group one was higher than that of general soldiers group two(P < 0.05)and the factorial scores of somatization, depression, hostility and paranoid ideation were higher than that of general soldiers(P < 0.05).
      Conclusion   The high stress military action may reduce the mental health level of soldiers.Psychological education and tutorship should be performed according to different soldiers.
