Distribution of cerebrovascular hemodynamic parameters in normal population

  •   Objective   To describe distribution of cerebrovascular hemodynamic (CVHD) parameters in normal population.
Methods   14 480 participants without history of stroke and free of stroke risk factor exposure were randomly selected from 26 cities in the northeast, north, east, northwest, south and southwest of China. CVHD parameters were checked and means were calculated, which were divided by age, sex, area, and check position. Characteristics of distribution were described and differences between groups were compared.
Results   Carotid blood velocity, such as Vmax, Vmin, Vmean were dramatically decreased, but cerebral Rv, Zcv, Wv, DP, and CP were significantly increased with aging. Qmean and DP had no significant age trends. Qmean, Vmax, Rv, DR, CP and DP in male were higher than that in female. While Wv and Zcv in female was higher than that in male. Left carotid Qmean, Vmean, Vmax, Vmin, Wv, Zcv and CP were higher than that of right. However, Rv, DR and DP were lower than that of right. There were no obvious difference among areas.
Conclusion   Obvious distributional difference of CV HD parameters are found in age groups, sex, and checking position.
