Objective To investigate the effect of the female anopheles stephensi mosquitoes.oviposition on the malaria exflagellation-inducing substance in the different organ of the mosquitoes.
Methods The change of exflagellation-inducing activity in the heads, salivary glands and ovaries of anopheles stephensi was analyzed by using vitro exflagellation assay of plasmodium berghei.
Results There was no apparent relationship between the exflagellation-inducing activity of the head supernatant and completely egg-laid or incompletely egg-laid mosquitoes. After complete oviposition of eggs, the exflagellation-inducing activity in the salivary gland extract significantly increased and the activity in the ovary super natant significantly reduced.
Conclusion The female anopheles stephensi mosquitoes' laying egg exerted its effect on the exflagellationinducing activity in the salivary glands.
