Case-control study on relationship between impulsiveness and suicide attempt

  Objective   To study the relationship between impulsivity and suicide attempt.

  Methods   Questionnaire were conducted in 81 suicide attempters matched according to ratio of one to one.

  Results   The mean scores on inventory in impulsivity in the suicide attempt group were higher than those in the control group.The statistic difference was significant.A logistic regression analysis indicated that impulsivity had significantly positive associated with lifetime suicide attempt.

  Conclusion   The data showed that impulsivity might play a triggering role for suicide attempts.To prevent suicide attempt should combine with people's characteristics.
