Evaluation on quality of services of reproductive health and family planning in rural areas

  •   Objective   To identify the utilization of reproductive health and family planning services for reproductive age men and women as well as their related KAP and health requirement.
      Methods   A qualitative study was adopted.105 reproductive age men and women from 8 villages in Anhui, Guang dong, Qinghai and Chongqing were divided into 16 small groups respectively to conduct focus group discussion in 2001.
      Results   The situation of maternal health care for reproductive age women in rural was satisfied.Most of village pregnant women delivered in township hospitals.IUD was the common contraception after delivery.Among reproductive age women, 72.5%, 35.3% and 70.6% knew about at least one kind of transmission ways, hazards and preventive measures of RTIs/STDs respectively.The best way to obtain relevant knowledge was face to face communication and consultation with doctors and other health professionals.
      Conclusion   It was necessary to improve the maternal health care and enhance the hospital delivery rate, provide family planning guidance and carry out variety of health education in order to improve the reproductive health in rural areas.
