Study on relationship between proteinase activity and virulence of gastric carcinoma strain of candida albicans

  •   Objective   To study the relationship between proteinase activity and virulence of gastric carcinoma strain of candida albicans in mice.
Methods   Proteinase secretion of the 21 C.albicans strains was detected on milk-agar plated.Their proteolylic activity was determined by the incubation on vibrator. The virulence was appreciated as the mean subsist time of mice.
Results   All strains of gastric carcinoma patients secreted proteinase indicating that the detection rate was 100%, experience showed that proteinase activity and virulence was higher in mice than that strains from the mouth of normal man.T here was a directly positive correlation between proteinase activity and virulence.
Conclusion   Strains of C.albicans of gastric carcinoma patients secreted proteinase. These results indicated that extracelluar proteinase was a pathogenicfactor for C.albicans.Proteinase activity can be used as the direct parameter for virulence of C.albicans.
